Many people ask, “How often should I mow in winter?”
This is not an easy question to answer, as there are many different types of grass that all grow differently as the temperature drops.
For example, some grasses, particularly warm season grasses, will go dormant and stop growing once the weather turns chilly. The cool season grasses that are the mainstay of lawns prefer cooler climates and will continue to grow at a slow pace throughout winter.
At Sunshine Coast Mowers, we recommend you maintain a 10-14 day mowing schedule throughout winter, cutting your grass to a height where the lawn will remain thick without showing the roots.
For this seasonal mowing, we recommend a model from our range of Honda Mowers.
For cleaner, quieter 4-Stroke power, better economy and better service and support, nothing comes close to Honda. Whatever your lawn mowing requirements – from small courtyards to hilly parklands – Honda's got it covered with its range of quality reliable mowers.
After you have finished this you should start cleaning up your garden.
Begin by pulling out weeds that may have cropped up, and raking fallen leaves. Weeds and rotten leaves can carry insects and diseases that might be harmful to your garden.
If you are time poor, we recommend you use an electric blower. Our Stihl Brand of blowers have excellent power-to-weight ratio, quickly clearing leaves and grass cuttings from any surface.
Soon the leaves will be off your trees and you will be able to see the rotten branches. Trimming off the unwanted branches from your trees isn't necessary to your garden’s health, but may help later on by not dropping branches on your plants and prevent them blocking the sun.
